Evaluating ERP

Choosing an ERP in the UAE.

What you’re actually buying, what it costs in dirhams, and how long it takes before you’re running on it.

14 days · no credit card · export any time

The shortlist you’ll end up with

There are three kinds of ERP sold here.

Almost every option a UAE business is shown falls into one of three groups, and the difference matters more than any feature comparison.

A global suite, sold through a partner

The software is capable and the partner is who you actually deal with. Implementation is a project measured in months, priced separately from the licence, and the people who wrote the code are in another timezone and another company. When something is wrong, your partner raises it upstream and waits.

An offshore cloud tool with a currency switch

Cheap, quick to start, and built for somewhere else. VAT is a tax rate you type in rather than a return the system prepares. Post-dated cheques don’t exist as a concept. Support is a form and a 12-hour gap.

Something built here

Fewer options, and worth checking carefully - "local" is a claim anyone can make. Ask who wrote it, where they sit, and whether you can talk to them. VISIONS ERP is the third kind: built in Dubai, supported from Dubai, no reseller in between.

Ask these on every demo

The questions that only matter here.

A feature grid will tell you every system does accounting and inventory. These are the questions that separate them once you’re actually operating in the UAE.

Does 5% VAT land on every document?

Output and input tax belong on sales, purchases, credit notes and debit notes alike - not on the invoice screen only. Otherwise someone rebuilds the return in a spreadsheet each quarter.

Are post-dated cheques a first-class record?

PDCs run this economy. They need to live inside receivables and payables - issued, presented, cleared, bounced - each state posting to the ledger, not tracked in a side register.

Can it hold more than one currency?

Dated exchange rates, realised and unrealised differences, and a base-currency ledger that still balances at the end of the month.

Will it produce structured e-invoices?

This is now a dated legal obligation rather than a nice-to-have, and the deadline depends on your revenue.

Does it separate branches without separating your books?

Multi-branch stock, purchasing and reporting on one set of accounts that cannot disagree with itself.

Can you get your data back out?

Ask to see an export before you sign, not after. Products, customers, transactions and the ledger, in formats that open in a spreadsheet.

What it costs, in dirhams.

Published, in AED, with 5% VAT included in the figure - Starter from AED 299/month, Professional from AED 899/month, Enterprise priced on the shape of the business. No conversion at an exchange rate that moves, no per-module quote, and no separate implementation line you discover at signature. The full comparison is on the pricing page.

The trial is 14 days, needs no card, and you can export everything at the end of it.

How long it actually takes.

Most companies are posting live entries in the first week. Not because the software is magic - because the work is smaller than an implementation proposal suggests.

You bring three files: a chart of accounts, customer and supplier balances, and an opening trial balance. They come in as CSV. Your account structure carries across as it is rather than being mapped onto a template you have to adopt, open receivables and payables arrive per customer and per supplier rather than as one lump, and prior periods are closed on arrival so nobody can back-date an entry into a year you’ve already reported.

If you’d rather not do that alone, send the files over and we’ll do it with you. That isn’t a paid engagement - it’s how we’d rather you started.

Support

Who answers when something is wrong.

Sunday to Thursday, 9am to 6pm Gulf Standard Time, on +971 56 887 0500. WhatsApp the same number if it’s quicker. The person who replies knows the product because they work on it.

A number, not a portal

No support tier to upgrade to for a straight answer, and no partner in the middle translating your problem into a ticket.

Your working week

Sunday to Thursday, Gulf Standard Time. Messages outside hours get picked up the next morning rather than the next timezone.

The team who built it

Not a reseller. If something needs fixing in the product, the person you spoke to is the one who files it.

Start where it hurts most.

Most businesses move one area first - accounting, stock or people - and pull the rest across once the numbers line up. Because it’s one system underneath, adding the next module is a switch rather than a second migration.

Every module writes to the same double-entry ledger, so the counter, the stock figure and the books can’t disagree, and month-end stops being a reconciliation project. The whole platform is here, and the industry fits are here.

Two obligations are worth reading separately before you choose: what a VAT return actually requires, and what the e-invoicing mandate expects your system to produce.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask us.

Is VISIONS ERP suitable outside Dubai?

Yes. It’s built for the UAE - Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the northern emirates included - and for free zone and mainland entities alike. The tax treatment differs by entity, not by software.

Do we have to move everything at once?

No, and most don’t. Start with one area, keep the rest where it is, and bring the others across when you’re ready. Because it’s one system underneath, adding a module is a switch rather than a second migration.

What happens to our data if we leave?

You export it - products, customers, transactions and the ledger - in formats that open in a spreadsheet. No exit fee, no waiting on a ticket. That’s what "actually owns" means.

Can you migrate from our current system?

Usually. If it can produce a CSV of your chart of accounts, balances and master data, we can bring it in. Send a sample export and we’ll tell you honestly what will and won’t carry.

How is this priced against a global suite plus a partner?

The licence is cheaper and the implementation line is largely absent. The honest trade-off: a global suite has more depth in areas most UAE SMEs never reach, and more third-party consultants who know it. If you need that depth, buy it.

Put a real week through it.

Bring a week of sales, a job card or a lease, and see it posted end to end. Fourteen days free, no card, export any time.
